Goodwill is a registered Indonesian charity (a Yayasan) which gives multi-year scholarships to many of the brightest and most needy future leaders each year. Students are selected from Indonesia's 2 top  public universities, the Bogor Agricultural University and the University of Indonesia.    Its mission is to provide financial assistance, training, care, resources and advice to young Indonesians and in doing so give them a  chance to lead and serve their communities and their country.

Since 1997, due to Indonesia's drawn-out economic crisis,  University students all over the country, many of whom who have the capability to become future leaders of Indonesian society, have faced the possibility of dropping out of their studies.  They and their families cannot pay their tuition fees, and/or they cannot afford 3 meals a day whilst covering the cost of their books, accommodation and transportation.  Yayasan Goodwill International  was formed in February 2004 to take over all the community services activities of the Jakarta based expatriate yayasan called ICAC which, since 1999, had been running a student scholarship program.  The aim of Goodwill International is to helpsstudents:

- improve their life prospects,
- empower themselves to fulfil their true potential,
- get the best training and/or education possible,
- maintain good health and nutrition,
- establish personal and business values and ethics,
- find a good and rewarding job or vocation

The scholarship program has now given some 455 disadvantaged, bright and motivated students the means to graduate from 2 of Indonesia’s leading public universities; the University of Indonesia (UI) or the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB).    356 of them have already graduated with a degree. Without Goodwill’s scholarship program most would have otherwise had to leave their University before graduating, due to lack of money to pay their fees and to live.  The yayasan aims to continue and grow the scheme and thereby  make a positive impact on Indonesian society’s development.
