Message
from the Yayasan's Chairman, Mrs Mizue Hara
The Chinese character for "person" is a
pictograph of two people are leaning against each
other, showing that the
people who created this word in the dawn of history thought that
human-beings could stand when supporting each other -- "trust."
"Trust " is the most valuable
element in our lives. For our students, it is vital they develop
trust between themselves and their sponsor, between them and the
Yayasan, and among and for themselves. We should remember that trust
is very fragile, and it may be broken easily if one does some little
thing wrong. No matter how hard one tries afterwards, one may never
fully regain that person's trust.
Over the last five years, I believe
that the Goodwill Scholarship students have established
relationships built on high levels of trust with their
sponsors. It is my hope that all our students again continue their
hard work, and preserve Yayasan Goodwill's tradition and reputation. There are many incredible challenges
and obstacles lying everywhere in life, but since our students have
overcome one of the biggest challenges already in being accepted to
a university and winning a scholarship, I feel sure they can tackle
all the others that will arise with equal energy,
determination and confidence.
I
wish all our students and sponsors
the best in the next twelve months. Jakarta 2009
Changes in the Officers of Yayasan Goodwill
At an extraordinary general meeting of the
Founders held on Monday
10th July 2006, the resignation of two
officers (Mrs Charmel dela Cruz as a
Pengawas and Mrs Susanna Holroyd as a
Pengurus) was accepted.
Additionally
Mr Somnath Guharoy
was by majority vote removed as a Pengawas.
3 Founders (Mrs Sri Lienau, Mrs Cathy Weenk,
and Mr Charles Pollard) voted for the motion to
remove Mr Somnath Guharoy; and 1 Founder
(Mrs. Guharoy) opposed the motion.
The 3 Founders had felt for some time that it
would be in the best interest of Goodwill
International to find a legally qualified,
and Indonesian Pengawas. (A Pengawas’ role is to
supervise the affairs of Goodwill and provide
guidance for the Executives to comply with
Yayasan Law.)
The 3 Founders therefore decided to remove Mr
Guharoy and to bring in Mrs Brigitta Imam
Rayahoe, (a lawyer) who they felt would be
better able to understand, interpret, advise on
and apply rules which govern all Yayasans in
Indonesia.
At a second extraordinary general meeting of the
Founders held on Friday
28th July, Mrs Mien Wibowo was
appointed as a Pengurus.
The Executives (Pengurus) are now Mrs Mizue
Hara (Chairman), Mrs Maria Kristanto (Treasurer) and they are joined by
Mrs Mien Wibowo (Secretary). The Director (Pengawas) is the
newly elected Mrs Brigitta Imam Rahayoe,
a distinguished Indonesian Lawyer.
The Founders (Pembinas) are unchanged.
